Fostering wider distribution for LGBTQ+ narrative projects.

We develop, financially support, and endorse LGBTQ+ narrative projects for recognition by esteemed organizations like the Academy Awards, fostering their wider distribution.

Our mission.

In response to the challenging political landscape that has marginalized certain narratives, our organization is dedicated to championing the diverse tapestry of LGBTQ+ stories. Our visionary framework is inspired by a shifting philanthropic landscape in which an increasing number of funders are investing in films and other media to accomplish their social impact goals. We believe now is the time and are committed to securing resources for short films that authentically portray the intersectional experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals.

As a non-profit production company, we are unwavering in our commitment to not only bring impactful shorts into the world but also to ensure their marketability and wide distribution. By amplifying our voices and enhancing visibility to our stories, we aim to challenge preconceived notions, provoke thought, and inspire a more compassionate world.

Lumina Initiative

As a non-profit, we use philanthropic funds to produce and distribute short narratives, aiming to amplify LGBTQ+ stories and gain recognition at major festivals. These films serve as proof of concept, demonstrating their potential for commercial success. After successful runs, IP options shift to our for-profit arm, Lumina Films, unlocking investment for long-form projects. Our hybrid funding model blends philanthropy with commercial strategies, enabling us to take risks and sustainably impact both the industry and society.

Innovative Funding Model

We actively seek and financially support projects that bring forth a diverse range of LGBTQ+ narratives, ensuring representation across the spectrum. By amplifying the visibility and understanding of LGBTQ+ experiences, our films play a pivotal role in challenging stereotypes, expanding perspectives, and nurturing empathy.

Diverse Storytelling

The Lumina Mentorship program is dedicated to recognizing and nurturing LGBTQ+ storytellers, including writers, directors, and producers who have completed no more than two features and/or television series, by pairing them with industry experts to provide guidance, resources, and networking opportunities to navigate the industry.

Mentorship Programs

To create a future where artificial boundaries between “mainstream” and other narratives no longer exist.

Our vision.
