Kirsten Knisely

CO-FOUNDER

Kirsten is a seasoned writer, director and creative producer focused on queer, female and mission-driven content. Having earned a BFA in creative writing from The University of Michigan, Kirsten began her career as a playwright in her hometown of Detroit; her work most notably produced at Jeff Daniels' not-for-profit Purple Rose Theatre Company before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a transition into film and television.

With over a decade of experience in commercial, narrative and independent filmmaking, Kirsten has honed a keen creative development skillset; including working in the writer's room on The L Word: Generation Q (Showtime), as well as serving on the directing teams for David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction (Netflix) and VMA nominated Lipstick Lover by prominent queer/NB artist Janelle Monae. In 2023, Kirsten became an award winning executive producer, writer and director for her independently-produced pilot Earth Girl – a sketch comedy about the climate crisis, created alongside her sister and creative partner, Caitlyn Knisely. The project won Best TV at Oscar-qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival.

Additionally, Kirsten has had the honor of working with various not-for-profit companies, lending her skills as a writer and filmmaker to more philanthropic pursuits.  During the Pandemic, she joined an international writer's room of AIME Mentoring's Imagin-ation University – a puppet show tackling themes of acceptance and empowerment for young Indigenous kids in Australia. She went on to direct and produce comedy-driven PSAs for the AIME Mentoring. She met Megan Stowe when she joined the crew as First Assistant Director on a series of PSAs produced by The Trevor Project; and the two have since gone on to collaborate narratively, most notably as co-writers on Parker – the Lumina flagship project.
